When you have a job, it biases you toward your profession's worldview. Mental health professionals are biased toward psychological well-being in the here and now. Pastors are biased toward well-being through church community. Police are biased toward seeing people as threats, and toward a world where they protect the innocent. College professors are biased toward seeing the solution to the world's problems coming through formal education. Professions cause you to see a narrow slice of reality, hyperfixate on it, grow numb to it, and become traumatized by it.
Jobs constrain your thinking for 40+ hours a week. Jobs pay your bills. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Don't see or say what would be bad for you.
Who are those who can care for the whole world, without this intense bias? The jobless.
